GUEST ARTIST
Lieve Oudejeans
Artist
A Geometry Artist from the Netherlands and a PhD student studying Leukemia, she has been pursuing Islamic geometry since 2019. She was introduced to patterns for the first time when she bought a watercolouring book that was filled with patterns and designs. After filling them up with colors she was intrigued and wanted to learn how to construct these patterns. Various online resources came to her rescue and she was soon able to make them and experience the calm the art brought. She would completely lose track of time which was what she wanted after a busy day at the laboratory. Drawing Islamic geometry is a creative outlet for her and she hopes to inspire others to also get into drawing geometric patterns. She actively tries to answer questions, provide resources and share her knowledge and experience to whoever asks for it. For Lieve, “Islamic geometry represents the perfect harmony between science and art and gave me the opportunity to connect with beautiful souls all around the globe”.
